Privacy Policy
1. Introduction
Locals Only LLC ("Locals Only," "we," "us," or "our") operates the Locals Only mobile application ("App"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, how we share it, and your rights regarding your personal data.
By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of your information as described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Information You Provide
- Account Information: When you register, we collect your name, email address, username, password, account type (personal or business), and zipcode.
- Profile Information: Any profile photo, biography, or other details you choose to add to your profile.
- User Content: Posts (including images), comments, likes, and direct messages you create or send through the App.
- Reports: Content you flag or report for review.
- Communications: Emails or messages you send to us directly (e.g., support requests).
2.2 Information We Collect Automatically
- Location Data: Your zipcode, which you provide during registration or when updating your profile. We do not collect precise GPS coordinates.
- Usage Data: How you interact with the App, including features used, content viewed, posts created, and actions taken (follows, likes, reports).
- Device Information: Device type, operating system version, unique device identifiers, and mobile network information.
- Advertising Identifier: Where you grant permission through the App Tracking Transparency prompt on iOS (or where allowed by your device settings on Android), we collect your device's advertising identifier (the IDFA on iOS or the Advertising ID on Android). We use it to measure the performance of our marketing and to attribute App installs. If you do not grant permission, we do not access this identifier and instead rely on privacy-preserving measurement such as Apple's SKAdNetwork.
- Analytics and Attribution Data: We and our analytics and measurement providers collect information about how you discover, install, and use the App, including app events (such as completing registration or your profile), the marketing source associated with your install, and in-App interactions, to understand how the App performs and how effective our marketing is.
- Log Data: IP address, access times, pages or screens viewed, and crash reports.
- Push Notification Tokens: If you enable push notifications, we collect a device token to deliver notifications to you.
2.3 Information from Third Parties
We use third-party services for authentication and cloud infrastructure. These services may provide us with information as part of their operation (e.g., authentication tokens). Our advertising and attribution providers may also provide us with information about how you were referred to the App, such as the advertisement or campaign associated with your install. We do not purchase or receive personal data from data brokers.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Create and manage your account
- Operate and deliver the features of the App (feeds, posts, comments, messages, follow relationships)
- Display your content to the appropriate users based on your location and account type
- Send you service-related notifications (account activity, direct messages, policy updates)
- Send you product announcements and launch communications about Locals Only, including pre-launch waitlist updates; you can opt out at any time via the unsubscribe link in those emails
- Enforce our Terms of Service, including reviewing reported content
- Detect, prevent, and respond to fraud, abuse, and security incidents
- Improve and develop new features for the App
- Measure the performance of our marketing and attribute App installs and sign-ups to the campaigns that referred them
- Comply with applicable legal obligations
- Respond to your support requests and communications
We may use analytics and advertising-measurement providers to understand how you discover and use the App and to measure the performance of our own marketing campaigns. This may involve sharing limited device information (including your device's advertising identifier, where you have granted permission) and app-event information with those providers, which process that information in accordance with their own privacy policies, as described in Section 4. We do not exchange your personal data for money. Depending on your state of residence, this sharing may be considered "targeted advertising," a "sale," or a "sharing" of personal data under applicable privacy law, and you can opt out as described in Section 6. We do not display third-party advertising inside the App.
4. How We Share Your Information
4.1 With Other Users
Your profile information (username, profile photo, account type) and public posts are visible to other users of the App as determined by our platform's feed logic. Direct messages are visible only to you and the recipient.
4.2 With Service Providers
We share information with third-party service providers that help us operate the App. These providers are contractually required to use your information only as directed by us and in accordance with this Privacy Policy. Our service providers may include, but are not limited to, the following, and this list may be updated without notice:

- PostHog: Product analytics that help us understand how features are used and improve the App. Subject to PostHog's Privacy Policy.
- AppsFlyer: Mobile measurement and attribution, used to determine which marketing campaigns lead to App installs and sign-ups. Subject to AppsFlyer's Services Privacy Policy.
- Meta Platforms, Inc.: Delivery and measurement of our marketing campaigns, including attribution of App installs and app events. Information shared with Meta is subject to Meta's Privacy Policy.
4.3 For Legal Reasons
We may disclose your information if required to do so by law, subpoena, court order, or other governmental authority, or if we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of Locals Only LLC, our users, or the public.
4.4 Business Transfers
If Locals Only LLC is involved in a merger, acquisition, sale of assets, or bankruptcy, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you via the App or email before your data is transferred and becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
4.5 With Your Consent
We may share your information with third parties when you have given us explicit consent to do so.
5. Data Retention
We may retain your personal data for as long as your account is active, as necessary to provide the App's services, and for as long thereafter as permitted by applicable law. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we may retain personal data and are not obligated to delete it. Our general retention practices include:
- Account Data: Retained for the duration of your account. Upon account deletion, your profile, posts, and content may be removed within a reasonable period, except as described below or as otherwise permitted by law.
- Log Data: Server logs and usage data are retained for up to 90 days.
- Legal Holds: We may retain data beyond standard retention periods if required by a legal obligation, dispute resolution, or law enforcement request.

8. Security
We may implement technical and organizational measures intended to help protect your personal data against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. Any such measures are provided at our discretion and are not required or guaranteed. These measures may include:
